Curro Claret

Curro Claret (Barcelona, 1968) studied at London’s Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and Barcelona’s Escuela Superior de Diseño Elisava. He has worked in both architecture and design studios and also on a freelance basis. In his work as an artist, he creates objects that aim to establish different ways of people relating with each other, with their surroundings and with animals. His objects aim for a type of harmony, respect and balance between people and the Earth. At times, they aim to fulfil a specific function in a basic and direct manner. While at other times, his objects attempt to question and force certain everyday situations in order to see what will happen.

He has worked for companies and institutions like the Barcelona City Council and the Environment Department for the Generalitat de Catalunya (Catalan Government), as well as for galleries and exhibition halls.

His most renowned piece is Cajonera, which has been seen in various countries as part of the travelling exhibition entitled “300% Spanish Design”. The piece was acquired by the Museum of Decorative Arts of Barcelona (2006) and the La Panera Art Centre of Lleida for its contemporary art and design collection (2008).
